The National People's Party (NPP) today held a dharna at the Civil Lines railway crossing here, demanding a CBI probe into the murder of its party worker on the day of Rajasthan Assembly polls.

Hundreds of NPP workers, led by party's Lok Sabha member Kirori Lal Meena, also demanded immediate arrest of BJP activists involved in the murder.

Later, Meena met Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Additional Chief Secretary C S Rajan and submitted a memorandum written by the victim's son, an NPP leader said.

When contacted Rajan told PTI that the state government was making a recommendation on the petition and forwarding it to the state Home Department for necessary action.

NPP worker Ramkishan Meena (45) was killed and another, Udairam, received bullet injuries when a group of BJP workers, led by the local party contestant Omprakash Hudla (Mahua constituency), allegedly opened fire indiscriminately near the Balahera polling booth after polling was over on December 1.

An FIR was lodged at Mahua police station but no action has been taken so far, they alleged.
