The medical examination by the jail doctor revealed that Shukla was suffering from mild fever, jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma told PTI adding he developed a pain in the back during the night hours.
The jail doctor has asked for Shukla's medical report from AIIMS, where he was expected to undergo a surgery, which has been delayed due to his arrest, Sharma added.
The jail authority stated that Shukla, lodged in barrack number 16 A, has been kept under tight security and no one is permitted to meet him without permission.
A special CBI court yesterday remanded Shukla to judicial custody for 14 days.
Special CBI judge A K Singh remanded the IAS officer in judicial custody, rejecting the CBI's plea for three more days of his custody for further interrogation.
Singh fixed May 28 as the next date of hearing.

Shukla was arrested on May 10 by the CBI for alleged bungling in upgradation of 89 district hospitals under NRHM programme causing a loss of nearly Rs 22.5 crore to the exchequer.
Shukla was held from Lucknow airport while he was going to Delhi for some treatment. The judge has allowed Shukla to carry his medicines with him, however, said that jail doctor will examine him in jail hospital.
