NRI booked for trespassing, axing trees in Punjab

An NRI has been booked for allegedly trespassing a private property and axing trees from the land here, police said today.

The police said that the complainant and the owner of the property, Reeta Sharma, stated in an FIR that she had purchased land in 2013 near Sujanpur here which had large number of mango trees.

The accused, identified as Malvinder Singh Bajwa, also has land adjoining to the one owned by Sharma. He trespassed her property without seeking permission and axed a number of mango trees, police said.

A case was yesterday registered under various sections of the IPC against the accused on the woman's complaint.
 

Police said today that further investigations in the case were on.
