The Abu Dhabi-based businessman from Kerala told a Malayalam television channel today that he took the decision as he was not interested in being part of an organisation which could not 'serve properly' the Keralites working in the Gulf.
He resented 'steep' hike effected by Air India in fares to the Gulf sector and last-minute cancellation of its flights putting the passengers to severe hardship.
Yusafali said he would strive to revive the Air Kerala, mooted by the state government as a joint venture some time back as a budget airline meant mainly to serve the Keralites working in various Gulf countries.
Yusafali has been a member of AI director board since 2010.
