The NRI Commission today served summons to a deputy commissioner after pulling him up for not complying to its orders in connection with a case involving a complaint filed by a Germany-based NRI.

The SAS Nagar (Mohali) DC has been asked by the Commission to appear before it tomorrow and "(explain) why action should not be taken against him for non-compliance with (its) orders".

The case involves one Surinder Singh, a resident of Germany, who has alleged that the sarpanch of his village had diverted water from drains into his land at Chatt village in Mohali district.

According to a Commission spokesman, the complainant has said that he approached various officials, including the sub-divisional officer, but to no avail.

After he moved the Commission, it had asked the DC on March 6 to look into the matter and submit a report.

No report, however, has arrived from the DC, the spokesman added.
