According to a complaint filed by Harmanjeet Kaur, she was harassed by her in-laws for dowry since her marriage in 2007, a spokesperson of the Commission said here today.

Kaur has also alleged that her parents had given Rs 10 lakh to her in-laws to help her husband got permanent residency in Italy.

The spokesperson said the Commission sought a detailed report from SSP Patiala in this case and also ordered to look into the allegations made in the complaint and take an appropriate action.

The Commission also asked Inspector General (NRI Affairs), who is also a nodal officer for NRI Affairs in Punjab, to look into the matter.
