NRI summit: Cong accuses Pubjab govt of misusing public money

Congress today accused Punjab Government of misleading people by organising NRI summits and alleged that the meets have failed to serve its intended purpose of bringing in investment to the state.

In a statement issued here, Punjab Congress Chief Partap Singh Bajwa accused SAD-BJP-led government of misusing public money and sought an explanation from Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and state Minister Bikram Singh Majithia on the purpose of organising such summits.

Bajwa accused Badal and Majithia of misleading people by organising events such as 'Progressive Punjab Investment summit' and 'NRI sammelans' to attract foreign investments.

"They also issued advertisements in the newspapers along with statements by leading NRIs that they will invest in Punjab," Bajwa said.
 

He claimed as per information collected by Jasdeepak Singh, convener of RTI cell of Punjab Congress through RTI, it came to fore that the purpose of such summits was not investment.
