NSC hands over Rs 4.12 crore dividend cheque to Agri Minister

State-run National Seeds Corporation (NSC) Ltd today handed over dividend cheque of Rs 4.12 crore to Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh today.

State Farms Corporation of India Ltd (SFCI), which has been amalgamated with NSC, also handed over cheque of Rs 2.36 crore, an offcial statement said today.

NSC is carrying out its seeds production activities through 10 regional offices and 77 area offices. Besides above six farms have been vested in it on amalgamation of SFCI.

Meanwhile in an another event addressing the first meeting of newly constituted parliamentary consultative committee today, the subject of 'Dairying' and the achievements made by the new government in this field, he informed that the milk production in India has reached 137.6 million tonnes in 2013-14 as compared to 17 million tonnes in 1950-51.
 

During the last five years, the rate of increase in milk production has remained at 4.2 per cent which is higher than the growth rate of population, the minister said.

During the current year, the provision of Rs. 150 crore has been made for this mission, Singh added.
