The Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (NSCBIA) here has been adjudged the "Best Improved Airport in the Asia Pacific Region" by the Airports Council International (ACI) for the year 2013.

Describing it as a prestigious international award for any airport, Airport Director B P Sharma said the NSCBIA in Kolkata has received the award for its best Air-passengers' Service Quality (ASQ) and passenger survey satisfaction benchmark.

Announcing the award earlier at Montreal on February 19, ACI World Director General Angela Gittens said these awards represent passengers' views on 34 key service indicators which are objective and accurate.

"As airports face an increasingly competitive and demanding aviation market, it is crucial to keep focus on meeting and exceeding passenger expectations," Gittens had said.

Stating that airport managers need factual intelligence to guide their efforts and optimise their investments, Gittens said, "ASQ Survey is a tool that provides data and enables airports to identify what their passengers value most and what the airport community needs to achieve excellence in customer service."

"The results over time demonstrate that airports are paying close attention to the feedback from their passengers and undertaking corrective action to improve passenger experience," Gittens said.
