NSCN(K) cadre held with arms

An NSCN(K) cadre carrying a Rs 2 lakh award on his head was arrested along with arms and ammunition during an operation in Nagaland's Dimapur district, an Assam Rifles official said today.

The cadre, identified as 'SS Capt' Nasaka, was apprehended from Dimapur and the arms recovered from him included one AK-47 assault rifle, one US carbine, two .22 rifles and two single barrel rifles.

Besides, one Chinese hand grenade, one prismatic compass and 194 rounds of assorted ammunition were recovered from him, the official said.

Nasaka was an accused in the attack on Assam Rifles jawans on March 26 last year at Indira Gandhi Stadium here. Four AR jawans were injured in the attack.
 

Nasaka had then fled to Myanmar and recently returned to Nagaland, the official said, adding he was arrested from Thilixu area of Dimapur on May 23.
