A NSCN-K militant was apprehended and arms and ammunition were seized from his possession in Assam's Dima Hasao district, police said today.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint operation by the police and Assam Rifles personnel was launched and the militant was apprehended from Borohaflong area under Haflong police station last night.
The militant has been identified as Haihingbe Jeme, they said, adding a hand grenade, twenty rounds of live ammunition of 7.62 mm pistol and ten detonators were seized from his possession.
Patrolling has been intensified throughout the district following reports of increased activities by some militant outfits before the North Cachar Autonomous Councils polls on May 20 next.
