NSDC to widen operations, open offices in 12 cities

Keen to scale up its skilling efforts, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) today announced plans to open offices in 12 cities across the country.

The offices will be opened in cities, including Guwahati, Patna, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Ranchi, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chennai, Hyderabad and Lucknow.

"To drive quality, we will now be incentivising the high-performing training partners while the non-performing ones will have to be warned and asked to exit," Jayant Krishna, ED and COO, NSDC, said addressing the body's partners meet here.

During the meeting, discussions were held focusing on quality of programmes under the Skill India initiative, with more robust monitoring and evaluation, changes in funding guidelines, leveraging training partners for optimising the skill landscape, better industry connect and increased state government engagements.
 

It also focused on building sustainable and profitable business models, making it a viable solution for partners.

At the meeting, NSDC's MD and CEO Manish Kumar highlighted the challenges in the ecosystem and said only consistent collaboration and convergence can strengthen skill development initiatives in the country.

He further explained how labour capital leads to growth and how human capital can be enhanced with skill development which will then define a new growth trajectory for the nation and its people.
