The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) today signed an agreement to explore opportunities to work together and foster a strategic relationship.
An agreement to this effect was signed at the CSE in Colombo by its chairman Ray Abeywardena and Vikram Limaye, managing director and chief executive of NSE, the NSE said in a statement.
The agreement calls for cooperation on the exchange of information and expertise and also paves the way for the NSE to play a consultative role in a number of strategic initiatives implemented by the CSE, including in new product development and exchange operations.
"This paves the way to strengthen what is already a strong relationship of collaboration between the two bourses," said Abeywardena.
Limaye said NSE and CSE have been collaborating over the years and expressed the hope the new agreement will take the relationship to the next level and will benefit capital markets in both the markets.
