Preparing themselves to tackle any contingencies which might arise due to any infiltration on the strategically located Andaman and Nicobar islands, NSG commandos today completed a three-day training exercise.
Commandos from the Chennai hub of National Security Guards (NSG) conducted the training exercises in the islands from March 27.
"The activities involved acting on various possible contingencies which might arise due to infiltration of terrorists on the islands. Various situations practised involved vulnerable possible places such as important hotels and resorts," an Andaman and Nicobar Command's spokesperson said.
The unified Command comprising all the tri-services of Army, Navy and Air Force was closely involved in the planning and coordination of the activities conducted by the NSG.
He said the aim of the exercise, besides training and honing own drill and procedures, was to instill a sense of confidence amongst the local population of island.
