The Nagaland Tribes Action Committee (NTAC) Kohima and Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) today met Governor P B Acharya and alleged that there is "complete break down" of the constitutional machinery in the state.
Hours before the expiry of their three-day deadline to Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang to step down, the NTAC and JCC met the Governor and told him about the prevailing "pathetic" law and order situation and "dysfunctional" governance in the state for the last 8 days, NTAC Secretary C T Jamir said.
"You are aware of the fact that there is complete breakdown of constitutional machinery in the state. For the last 8 days, all the government offices are not functioning which demonstrates that there is no governance in the state and there is untold hardships being faced by the people in different walks of life," the two committees informed the Governor through a memorandum submitted during the meeting.

They said considering the "volatile law and order situation" in the state, it is high time for the Governor to "intervene and to take immediate action as assured."
NTAC Kohima and JCC are spearheading the public movement against the Nagaland Government's decision to conduct Urban Local Body polls in the State with 33 per cent reservation for women.
