NTPC raises Rs 655 cr via non-convertible debentures

Power producer NTPC today said it has raised Rs 655 crore through private placement of secured non-convertible debentures.

The proceeds will be utilised to finance capital expenditure/refinance the debt requirement in on-going projects, the PSU said in a filing to the BSE.

"The company has raised Rs 655 crore through private placement of secured non-convertible debentures at a coupon of 8.33 per cent p.A. With a 5 year door-to-door maturity on February 24, 2016," the filing said.

At present, NTPC has an installed capacity 45,548 MW.

NTPC has drafted its business plan of capacity addition of about 1,000 MW through renewable resources by 2017. NTPC has already commissioned 110 MW Solar PV Projects. Another 15 MW Solar PV and 8 MW Small Hydro Projects are in progress.
 

The company plans to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels to 56 per cent by 2032 from existing about 85 per cent.
