State-run NTPC today said coal production from Pakri Barwadih coal mine located in Jharkhand will start shortly.
It also said that it is in advanced stage of awarding contract for appointment of mining and development operator for its two more mines.
"NTPC Ltd, India's largest power generating company has successfully exposed seam-III in its first coal mine-Pakri Barwadih located in the state of Jharkhand after removal of over burden of 7 lakh cubic metre," the company said in a statement.

Centre has allocated 10 mines to NTPC having total estimated reserve of 7.3 billion tonnes with ultimate mining capacity of 107 million tonnes per annum.

Ashoka Buildcon bags rural electrification contract in Bihar * Engineering firm Ashoka Buildcon today said its power division has bagged rural electrification orders worth Rs 950 crore in Bihar.
The company has received Letters of Intent for the projects from North and South Bihar Power Distribution Company, it said in a statement.
Ashoka Buildcon has bagged the rural electrification works in Sitamarhi, West Champaran, Munger, Patna and Sasaram districts under Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana.
