Strength of trainers in the domestic airlines is less than the number of trainers recommended by the aviation regulator, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma informed the Lok Sabha today.
During the last three years and the current year, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has conducted 21 regulatory audits on scheduled airlines during which it was found that the strength of trainers was found to be less than the recommended strength in the DGCA operations circular as well as operators' training manual, Sharma said in a response to a question.
The audit also revealed that the certified operations manual of the airlines was also not updated, the Minister said.

The Minister said, as per the audit findings, norms for the pilot's proficiency check (PPC) was not being strictly complied as few of the pilots were detected flying even after the expiry of the validity of PPC adding, however there was no case of expired pilot licences.
The training policy defined by the company in the operator's manual, addressing failure and below standard reports of flight crew during the checks was found to be inadequate, he said.
The procedure to immediately give corrective training and bring back crew for utilisation is not in line with the procedure prescribed in operations manual, Sharma said adding the responsible pilots have been suspended or off restored and issued warnings for operating beyond validity of PPC.
