: The Congress in Telangana Tuesday alleged that the number of voters in the state, which should have increased between 2014 to 2018, has come down.

"The number of voters, generally, as per population, should have increased since 2014 to 2018. As per the draft voters' list released now, the number of voters is less by 20 lakh," Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy Tuesday told reporters here.

While the number of voters was 2.81 crore in the 2014 elections, it came down to 2.60 crore voters now even after adding eight lakh new voters, he said.

He wondered whether anybody was tampering with the voters lists and alleged that 'those in power' had earlier tried to tamper with the lists ahead of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections.

He appealed to the Election Commission to see that the electoral rolls are 100 per cent accurate.

Reddy also urged that those completing 18 years of age should be enrolled in the voters lists.
