Blaming the state government over its "failure" to fill vacant nursing posts in state-run hospitals, the nurses associations today demanded that it should take steps to provide jobs to several unemployed graduates in the state.
The Rajasthan Nurses Association (RNA) and Rajasthan Student Nurses Association (RSNA) alleged that about one lakh trained nursing students were unable to find a job in the state, and the state government was doing nothing to fill the vacancies in government hospitals.
About 20,000 nursing students graduate every year from 400 nursing schools and colleges run by the government and private institutions, but no new jobs have been created so far to meet the demand, Mithlesh Tank, Secretary of RSNA and Sahshikant Sharma, Chairman of RNA said here.
