A 20-year-old girl student of a private nursing college today allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her hostel room, police said.
According to police, the victim identified as Harkiratpret Kaur, a resident of Ludhiana, was studying at Gulab Devi Nursing College and staying at the hostel here.
The body has been sent for post mortem, they said, adding the reason for her taking the extreme step could not be ascertained.
Police is probing the matter further.
