New York Police Department says Boardwalk Empire actor Paz de la Huerta's claims that Harvey Weinstein raped her twice in 2010 are credible enough to arrest the disgraced mogul.

Detectives have interviewed de la Huerta and found her claims to be credible, a spokesperson for the New York Police Department told People magazine.

Police also confirmed that they have been able to corroborate aspects of de la Huerta's story, and said that if the allegations were recent and the movie mogul were in New York, they would make the arrest.

However, since the allegations are years old, investigators still need to gather more evidence before seeking a warrant for Weinstein's arrest.
