United States President Barack Obama and Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed ongoing unrest in Syria and Egypt, according to The White House.
The two leaders talked about the foreign extremists in Syria and the need for a unified and inclusive front. Violence from Syria's two-year civil war has been spilling over into Turkey. Turkey is also concerned about the Syrian Kurds seeking more power.
Obama and Erdogan also discussed about Egypt and the crucial need for democracy. Both countries have been concerned that the violence and unrest could destabilise other parts of the region as well.
The conversation took place while Obama was travelling in California.
