Obama to meet with Aus PM Turnbull later this month

US President Barack Obama will meet with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull at the White House later this month, where the two leaders will discuss a range of issues, including cooperation in Iraq and Syria and ratification of the trans-Pacific trade deal.

The meeting between the leaders will take place on Jan 19. This would be Turnbull's first trip to Washington since assuming office.

"During the meeting, they will highlight the extraordinary breadth of the US-Australian alliance, and discuss a range of bilateral, regional, and global issues, including our cooperation in Iraq and Syria, our trade relationship, the successful conclusion of negotiations of the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement, and other developments in Asia and the Pacific," White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, said.
