OBO Bettermann's facility to go on stream

Electrical cable management and lightning protection products maker OBO Bettermann, an Indo- German joint venture company today announced its maiden manufacturing facility near here will start operations from tomorrow.

"The state of the art manufacturing unit is located at SIPCOT in Oragadam Industrial Centre," Managing Director, OBO Bettermann India, S Gopa Kumar told reporters here, adding, an investment of Rs.80 crore has been made so far.

The company is expecting a turnover of Rs 30 crore this year and Rs 60-70 crore the year after, he added.

The company will manufacture over 3,000 different kinds of metal and plastic products for electrical cable management besides products for lightning protection.
 

The company aims to cater to domestic as well as export markets in Sri Lanka and the Middle East countries.

The firm started its India operations in 2008 and has lined up further investments to ramp up production and revenues.

A testing and a research and development centre will also soon be set up, he said.

The company is working with the Bureau of Indian Standards to upgrade the standards for electrical installation practices including earthing systems in tune with global standards, he said.
