The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has announced cash prize of Rs 50,000 for defender Birendra Lakra, who was part of the Indian men's hockey team that won the gold in the Asian Games.

The OCA also announced Rs 10,000 each for four state girls who were a part of Indian women's hockey team, which secured a bronze for the country.

A Indian men's hockey team defeated arch-rivals and defending champions Pakistan 4-2 in nerve-wracking shoot-out to end its 16-years gold medal drought in the Asian Games and earn a direct berth to the 2016 Rio Olympics.

OCA secretary Asirbad Behera, in a statement, highlighted the state hockey players contribution.

OCA congratulated Lakra and four girls from the state for their rare achievement in the Asian Games.
