Odia writer dead

Central Sahitya Academy awardee Jatindra Mohan Mohanty passed away here today due to old age ailments, family sources said.

He was 80. Mohanty, a renowned literary critic, was honoured with Central Sahitya Academy in 2003 for his book titled 'Surya Snata' (The Sun Bathed), a work on Odia peotry.

Mohanty, who started his career as a lecturer in English at Ravenshaw College in Cuttack, had at least 20 Odia books to his credit besides above 250 essays and other works in English literature.
