The Odisha government today asked the four power distribution companies (DISCOM) to reduce the aggregate technical & commercial loss (AT&C) to 30 per cent by the end of 2016-17.
The directions to the DISCOM was given at a meeting here presided over by the Chief Secretary A P Padhi.
Taking stock of the performance of the companies over last three years, Padhi directed them to augment their efforts for achieving AT&C reduction target from the present level of 34 per cent.

The DISCOMs were also asked to fast track replacement of the defective meters and tighten the enforcement activities through squad checks and disconnection for bringing down the theft and bypassing.
They were also advised to improve their cash balance situation by enhancing collection efficiency, said Energy Secretary Rajesh Verma.
Sources said the AT&C loss could be reduced to 38 per cent by the year 2014-15 through various reform measures.
This loss was further reduced to 36 per cent in the year 2015-16.
GRIDCO CMD Hemant Sharma said the system has been developed to provide hassle-free new connection to domestic consumers within 48 hours at their door step.
