Odisha asks Centre to extend skill devlt scheme to LEW areas

Seeking a new branch office of the Regional Directorate of Apprentice Training, Hyderabad, here, Odisha government today asked the Centre to extend the scheme of "SkillDevelopmentof Youth" inLeft Wing Extremism (LEW) hit districts in the state.

The demands were made by chief minister Naveen Patnaik when Union Skill Development secretary RohitNandanmet the former atthe Secretariat here.

Duringthediscussion,the ChiefMinister proposed to extendtheschemeof"SkillDevelopmentof Youth" inLWE districts"to13moredistrictsofOdisha.

Presently only five LWE

districtsofOdishaareincludedunderthescheme.

In the scheme, one ITI and two skill development centre arebeingsetupperdistrict.

The Centre was also requestedtoconsideropeninga branchofficeofRegionalDirectorateofApprenticeTraining, HyderabadinBhubaenswar.

TheChiefMinisteralsostressedonhavingcommon norms andguidelinesacrosscentralministries andstate government departmentsforacoordinatedapproachin implementationofskilldevelopmentprogrammes.

Highlightingthetargetofskilldevelopmentfortwo lakhyoutheveryyearinthestate,theChiefMinistersaid thatthe NationalSkillDevelopmentMissionshouldprovide capitalsupportfortoolsandequipmenttothedistrictlevel Skill DevelopmentCentreswithhostelfacilities.
