Odisha Assembly session from June 12

The first session of the 15th Odisha Legislative Assembly will begin from June 12 and continue till July 28, official sources said.

While the election of the deputy speaker of the Assembly will be held on June 16, the full state budget would be presented on June 17, the sources said.

The session will take a two-week break between June 24 and July 8 and will have 25 working days. The Appropriation Bill is scheduled to be placed before the Assembly for passing on July 28, the sources added.

Meanwhile, senior BJD leader Niranjan Pujari has been elected as the Speaker of the new Assembly.
 

The 15th assembly will see the ruling BJD occupying 117 seats while opposition Congress has got only 16 seats followed by BJP with 10 seats in the 147-member House. While CPI(M) and Samata Kranti Dal candidates won one seat each, two seats have been captured by independent candidates.
