Odisha State Bar Council today condemned the arrest of former advocate general (AG) Asok Mohanty by CBI and threatened to move court alleging misuse of power by the central agency.
CBI, investigating into the chit fund scam in the state, yesterday arrested Mohanty from his house here for his alleged link with Artha Tatwa (AT) group CMD Pradeep Sethy.
Mohanty is booked by the CBI for fraudulently entering into a property deal with Sethy, who is also in the CBI custody.
Bar Council chairman Manas Ranjan Mohapatra alleged that CBI has exceeded its power. "The Bar Council will move the appropriate court against it at an appropriate time," he said.
