An Odisha-based Maoist cadre today surrendered before Superintendent of Police, West Singhbhum, N K Singh with arms and ammunition.

Fifty-five-year-old Natunia Kongari, who was wanted in various Naxal-related incident in Kablang police station of adjoining Odisha, was on his way to attend meeting of Maoist cadre in Saranda forest but the ultras dispersed on seeing security personnel approaching them.

Later, Kongari, a resident of Vikanpur of Sundergarh district, decided to surrender before the police even though he has no case pending in Jharkhand.

He was made in-charge of Maoists' wing of Nari Mukti Sangh in Saranda for a brief period, Singh told newsmen.

Kongari told police that he was lured into the ultra group by Anmolji and Madhusudanji in 2010.
