Odisha beat Bihar, meet Manipur in U-18 girls football finals

Odisha stormed into the finals of the Junior National Football Championship for Girls U-18 with a resounding 4-1 win over Bihar in the second semi-final.

Odisha took early led in the match played at the Raia Panchayat Ground in Raia, with Swarnapriya Nayak scoring a goal in the 7th minute.

Suman Pragyan Mohapatra and Jasmani Samad combined well upfront for Odisha and put pressure on the rival defense from the opening minute.

Bihar was given little room to move and were no match for the Odisha strong midfield players Sasmita Behera, Anima Malik, Arati Sethi and Swarna Priya Nayak.

Laxmi Munda marked Bihar star forward Tara Khatoon very well.
 

Odisha skipper Anima Malik came up with good moves beating rival defense on couple of occasions and setting his forwards with neat passes.

Jasmani Samad scored a goal for Odisha in the 34th minute as they now lead 2-0.

Meanwhile, Bihar got penalty strike and they converted it into a goal with Shama Rani in the 37th minute of play.

In the second half, Odisha continued the momentum as they did not give any opportunity to Bihar to score.

Samad scored her second goal in the 68th minute as Odisha now extended the lead to 3-1.

In the 79th minute, Susan Pragyan Mohapatra scored a goal and ensured a thumping 4-1 victory in the game.

Odisha now play Manipur in the finals on October 21 at Rosary Sports Complex, Navelim.
