Senior IAS officer from Odisha, Gagan Kumar Dhal has submitted his resignation from service, official sources said.
The state government, however, is yet to take a call on his resignation, they said.
The 1985 batch officer, who was posted as Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) in Odisha, has tendered his resignation prior to his retirement in January 2020.
According to a clarification issued by the General Administration department, Dhal, in a letter sent to the government on August 6, expressed his desire to resign from the service on personal ground.
"Dhal's resignation was under consideration of the government," a statement said.

The state government response came in the wake of media reports of the senior bureaucrat submitting resignation out of displeasure because Asit Kumar Tripathy, a 1986 batch officer, was appointed as the chief secretary.
The government had also appointed senior IAS officer P K Mohapatra as Agriculture Production Commissioner, replacing Dhal.
Dhal was not available for comment.
