Odisha CM announces ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh

A day after five persons were killed in an accident involving an ambulance which was on way from Andhra Pradesh to Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh each for the family members of the deceased.

Expressing grief over the incident, Patnaik also announced free treatnment for the injured persons.

While five persons including two women and a 10 month old infant died in the accident, as many number of people were injured.

They have been admitted to the King George Government Hospital at Visakhapatnam.

The deceased and injured persons hail from Aaruhabruti village under Bhograi block in Balasore district.
 

As per information available with the state government, one person from Balasore had died in a hospital in Hyderabad on Saturday. His family members were carrying his body to Balasore when the ambulance in which were travelling skidded from the road.

The accident took place yesterday at Yalmanchaly about 60 km from Visakhapatnam.

While three persons, including a woman died on the spot, another women and a 10-month old child succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, reports said.
