Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today laid the foundation stone of Mahanadi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, a Rs 492-crore CSR project of Mahanadi Coalfields (MCL), an arm of Coal India, in Talcher coalfields.
Coal and Power Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan were present, the Power Ministry said in a statement.
The Medical Sciences and Research (MIMSR) will have a 100-seat medical college with 500 bedded multi-specialty hospital with facilities including in anatomy, bio-chemistry, micro-biology and physiology, it said.

Goyal and Pradhan also today inaugurated a Multi Skill Development Centre at NTPC Talcher, Kaniha, the Ministry said in a separate statement.
"The multi-skill development centre is a long standing requirement of Odisha. This centre will provide skill training in different trades keeping in view the requirement of local industries," Goyal said in the statement, adding that the centre would be funded by the central government.
NTPC is supporting the skill development initiative of the government, in line with Skill India Mission, it said.
Goyal, who is on a two-day visit to Odisha, also inspected mining operations of MCL at Talcher, another official statement said.
