Odisha CM took personal loan from sister in last fiscal

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took a personal loan of Rs 15 lakh from his sister in the last fiscal, even as he continues to be the richest in his council of ministers.

"Temporary loan of Rs 15 lakh from Geeta Mehta, received vide chq no 479486 dated 09.03.2015 drawn on Bank of Tokyo- Mitsubishi, UFJ Ltd, New Delhi," Patnaik mentioned in his statement of assets for the year 2014-15.

The property statement of ministers in the official website said that Patnaik did not gain any new asset, either movable and immovable properties, during last fiscal.

His movable property, includes an Ambassador car of 1980 model valued at Rs 17,000, bank deposits of Rs 23.70 lakh and jewellery worth Rs 1.89 lakh.
 

The Chief Minister has bank deposits worth Rs 23,70,262 in four different banks in Delhi and Odisha, the statement said.

Patnaik has inherited a farmland from his mother Gyan Patnaik measuring 22.7 acres at Tikrikhera village near Faridabad in Haryana. Its current value is estimated at Rs 7.25 crore.

He inherited property (one-third share) at Aurangzeb Road in New Delhi worth Rs 36 crore from his father Biju Patnaik and his two-thirds share from Naveen Nivas in the state capital is valued at Rs 5.70 crore, the statement said.

While Odisha's law and panchayati raj minister Arun Kumar Sahoo is the poorest among ministers as per the property statement, state finance Minister Pradip Amat has a total immovable property of Rs 56 lakh and his movable property, includes a vehicle worth Rs 10.86 lakh and Rs 5 lakh cash.
