Intense heat conditions prevailed over most parts of Odisha today with the mercury soaring to 43 degrees Celsius in Titlagarh, making it the hottest place in the state.
However, marginal drop in temperature was recorded in a few coastal areas following rain and thundershower, which brought some respite to the people.
The mercury stood above 40 degrees Celsius in at least nine places in the state.
The mercury fell to 38.4 degrees Celsius from 40.6 degrees recorded yesterday in Bhubaneswar, the Meteorological Centre here said.
Apart from Titlagarh in west Odisha, Balangir recorded a maximum temperature of 42.8 degrees Celsius, it said in a bulletin.
Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi recorded 41.5 degrees Celsius, while the temperature stood at 41.1 degrees Celsius in Hirakud, 40.7 degrees in Angul, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Talcher and 40 degrees Celsius in Malkangiri.
