The Odisha Police has arrested Maoist central committee member Shila Marandi (50) from the gates of Tenughat jail in Jharkhand as soon as she was released on bail yesterday.

"Shila Marandi is a prominent Maoist leader. She has many cases against her name in Lathikata Police Station in Sundergarh district. We are searching for her for involvement in cases under other police stations," SP Rourkela, Anirudha Singh said today.

There was a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against her name, he added.

Shila, a resident of Birdihi in Jharkhand, is the wife of senior politburo member Kisan Da and was allegedly involved in some major Maoist activities in Odisha.

She was initially arrested by the Jharkhand police and was in jail therefollowing an operation.

The Maoists, in 2011, had demanded her release from Jharkhand jail in exchange of the then Malkangiri collector R Vineel Krishna.
