The fire brigade personnel of Odisha Thursday withdrew their four-day long strike following the state governments assurance to consider their demands.

The fire personnel of all the 341 fire stations were on strike since Monday demanding fulfillment of their six-point charter of demands including salary and pension at par with the Odisha police, filling up of vacancies and regularisation of service of contractual employees

"Our meeting with the state government was successful. The state-wide agitation has been withdrawn after officials of the Home department assured us that our demands will be looked into," agitating firemen's leader Akshay Kumar Pradhan said.

Earlier, the state government has placed six agitating fire officials under suspension on charge of dereliction on emergency duty.
