After successfully tracing and rescuing about 900 missing children of Odisha under 'Operation Smile' in January 2015, the state police along with Women and Child Development Department personnel are now all set to launch the second version of the drive in January 2016.

After a preparatory meeting in this regard at the police headquarters here today, state DGP K B Singh said a month-long drive would be launched to trace and rescue missing children of the state in two phases.

At least ten teams, each comprising five members of police and WCD department, would undertake the drive.

"From January 1 to 15, the teams would be on the lookout for missing children inside the state and from January 16 to 30, the focus would be shifted to outside the state," the DGP said.
