The Odisha Women & Child Development Department has asked the city collector to ensure that all Anganwadi centres functioning in the district run under safe shelters.

"If any Anganwadi centre is running in dilapidated and unsafe buildings, it should be shifted to a safe shelter," a letter issued by the department secretary Arti Ahuja to city collector said.

The direction came after a voluntary organisation here petitioned the government alleging that an Anganwadi centre was functioning in Nischintkoili block of the district in a dilapidated building for several years.
