Odisha government Tuesday enhanced the minimum daily wages for unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled and highly-skilled labourers in the state.
As per the revised rate, the unskilled labourers will now be entitled to get a wage of Rs 280 per day from Rs 200 a day, a notification issued by the Labour and Employment department said.
Similarly, the wages of semi-skilled labourers has been increased from Rs 220 to Rs 320 and for skilled labourers the rate is Rs 370 per day from Rs 240 daily. The highly skilled labourers will get Rs 430 a day from Rs 260 per day, the notification said.
This apart, wages for piece rate work under 15 job categories have been enhanced for the labourers.
The state government revised the minimum wage rates after a gap of three years following the recommendations of the State Minimum Wages Advisory Board.
The wages have been hiked taking into account factors like consumer inflation, the prevailing minimum wages in the neighbouring states, and the prevailing market rates, the notification said.
