"Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed the CID CB to probe the death of the lady doctor," an official spokesman said.

The 34-year-old unmarried lady doctor Madhabilata Pradhan went missing on October 12. Her body with multiple injuries was found by the GRP from the railway tracks near Malatipatpur railway station on October 19 and a case of unnatural death registered.

The chief minister's order came after the State Commission for Women during investigations last week went to exhume the body from the graveyard where it was buried, but did not find it in the grave.

Pradhan, an AYUSH doctor, was posted at a Community Health Centre at Kanas in Puri district after being transferred from a government hospital at Brahmagiri.

BJD chief whip Brahmagiri Sanjay Dasburma had recommended the transfer, the doctor's family said and alleged that she was murdered.

Dasburma, on his part, welcomed a CID CB probe.

The state-level ayush doctors association, of which Pradhan was a member, has demanded a CBI probe.

The students wing of the Congress today staged a demonstration here demanding a CBI probe and gave a memorandum to Governor M C Bhandare.

Earlier, the women wing's of the OPCC had gheroed a police station in Puri protesting her death.

The family members of the doctor have moved the Orissa High Court and the Odisha State Human Rights Commission seeking their intervention in the matter.
