Odisha govt sets up help centres to educate new voters

In a bid to create awareness and facilitate enrolment of new voters, Ganjam district administration in Odisha has set up Voter Sahayata Kendras (VSK) at the offices of the sub-collectors of Berhampur, Bhanjanagar and Chhatrapur, official said.

Deletion, correction and/or change of address of voters would also be done at the VSK, district election officer P K Das said.

"Old voter cards can be changed on payment of Rs 25. A new plastic voter card will be given in exchange of the old one," he said.

Das said steps were being taken to ensure maximum participation of voters in the coming elections.
 

To create awareness on the right of vote, the district administration held rallies, meetings and competitions among students in different towns of the district, including Berhampur, on Saturday.

As many as 65,655 new voters added their names in the district by January 15, raising the total number of voters in the district to 25.54 lakh, he said.
