Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal on Saturday approved disciplinary action against three professors of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) for allegedly leading a protest to oust its Vice Chancellor, official sources said.
The governor, who is also the chancellor of the university, gave his consent based on the recommendation of the state Skill Development and Technical Education department.
"The governor has approved the proposal of the state government in order to bring discipline in the campus," a Raj Bhavan spokesperson told PTI.
He also approved another proposal to issue show cause notices to 15 other faculty members on the disciplinary ground and they were asked to reply by August 17.
These professors were also accused of launching a protest against Vice-Chancellor Atal Choudhuri and demanded his ouster.
Alleging that no developmental work has been done in the institute ever since Choudhuri joined as VC in January 2018, the professors have been staging the protest since July 17.
