Odisha Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Naik was today shown black flags when he visited the 'Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre', days after some youths hurled eggs at the minister in Deogarh district.

Three youths were taken to custody as they started waving black flags at the minister as he alighted from his car inside the portico of the cancer hospital.

A handful of others gathered at the spot shouted slogans asking the minister to go back.

"All the three youths - Niranjan Das, Debashis Mohapatra and K Baburam - of the city were released under PR bonds soon after the minister left the town," Mangalabag police inspector A K Swain adding the youth have admitted having allegiance to Congress party.

An unfazed Naik, however, went ahead with his schedule inaugurating some new facilities of the cancer hospital and chaired a review meeting to discuss the expansion of the hospital's second campus.

Earlier this week, some youths pelted eggs at his moving car in Deogarh district.

Two policemen, including the Deogarh Town police inspector, had been suspended for the earlier incident.

An official source said Naik had apparently cancelled an official visit to his native district in Kendrapara on Thursday after intelligence inputs suggested that youth and student Congress activists had planned an egg attack on him.
