Odisha Assembly was adjourned for 21 minutes today due to noisy protests by members of the Opposition Congress who demanded a ruling from the Speaker over their privilege notices against state Agriculture minister Pradeep Kumar Maharathy.

The issue was raised by the opposition members during the zero hour when Congress member Nabakishore Das and others wanted to know Speaker Niranjan Pujari's decision on privilege notices which accused him of misleading the House on farmers' suicide in the state.

Congress member Kailash Chandra Kulesia and Krushna Chandra Sagaria had on Friday moved a privilege notice against Maharahty over the issue. Das too had moved a similar notice on the same day.

As Pujari did not take any action, Congress members rushed to the Well and attempted to climb to the Speaker's podium.

Unable to run the House, Pujari adjourned the House till 12.15 PM. The House functioned smoothly as it reconvened after the adjournment.
