Normal life was hit in most parts of Odisha today with mercury level crossing 40 degree Celsius mark in many places while the industrial town of Jharsuguda recorded maximum temperature of 43.4 degree Celsius.
While the maximum temperature in the state capital of Bhubaneswar recorded 39.7 degree Celsius, Angul experienced heat as mercury level rose to 42.7 degree C.
Other places which recorded above 40 degree C were Sambalpur (41.1), Sundargarh (40), Hirakud (42.9), Talcher (42.8), Bhawanipatna (42.5), Bolangir (42) and Titlagarh (41.5).

Places where temperature hovered around 40 degree are Baleswar (39), Chandbali (39.2), Cuttack (38.2), Bhubaneswar (39.2), Baripada (38), Keonjhar (39.8), Phulbani (38.8), Malkangiri (39.2) and Sonepur (39.4).
A release issued by the met office said that the heat wave would continue in the state for next 48 hours.
