Still in dark about motive of the visit of two Indian Mujahidin (IM) operatives to the holy town of Puri and state capital of Bhubaneswar, Odisha Police today reviewed security arrangement in Sri Jagannath Temple in the sea side pilgrimage site.

"Now we will stress on all four essential factors in regard to security of the temple. Frisking of all the persons entering into the shrine though its four gates, proper use of CCTV cameras, intelligence gathering and checking of materials being carried inside," said Special DGP Sanjeev Marik after physically verifying the security apparatus in the temple.

Marik also verified functioning of the watch towers erected near the boundary wall of the temple.

Besides Marik, IG (Operation), Director (Intelligence), Puri SP Anoop Kumar Sahoo, Puri collector Dhirendra Kumar Pattanaik and others joined the two-hour review meeting.

"We are taking all preventive measures to ensure safety of the temple and devotees," said Puri SP Anup Kumar Sahoo.

Though Odisha Police confirmed the visit of two IM operatives to the state in January this year, it was yet to ascertain the motive of the terrorist outfit. Three days ago Chief Secretary J K Mohapatra had reviewed the security of the temple. Mohapatra had asked the police to undertake a physical verification of the security arrangement in Puri.

Odisha DGP Prakash Mishra had confirmed that two IM operatives had visited Bhubaneswar and Puri twice in January this year and stayed in separate hotels.

Meanwhile, the commissionerate of police, Bhubaneswar- Cuttack also asked all the police stations to verify credentials of suspected persons staying in any hotel or guest house in the twin cities. The two IM operatives had stayed in separate hotels in the state capital in January this year, sources said.
